I would say that you don’t have to be “on autopilot”. Don’t be. I am going to say that the best way to avoid self-obsessed, self-damaging thoughts and actions is to go over the top with the right mindset. We have a lot of things to think about together, and that’s a good thing. But when we’re not doing these things, you can’t make a good difference.
Myself? I prefer to use autopilot to be honest. You can be a bit more active, you can be a bit less, but it takes practice to get better and it takes time to get better at it. The most important thing to remember is that autopilot is really a state. You can go over the top and go slow if you want.
The problem is when we use autopilot as our default mode. We go, “Oh, I’m not doing anything. I’m going to stay on autopilot.” And then we forget how to be a productive part of our lives.
Like everyone, there is a point in time where you should take action. But when you begin to practice autopilot, you just forget how to act. You just become a robot. It is not until you get better and become more aware of your own habits, routines, impulses, reactions, and the things you say and do that you can take control of your life again.
We all have a default mode. This is the mode of being in the world where you don’t try to be a part of your life. You just go with the flow, or the autopilot mode. So when you do something, you are just doing it. It doesn’t matter what it is. It doesn’t matter what you were doing in the past. You just go with that autopilot mode.
So we can all agree that there is a default mode, especially in regards to the things we do. I don’t know of anyone who has a default mode that is good for them. Most of us have a default mode where we stay in our comfort zone. This is a mode that we are comfortable with because it is the right thing for us to do.
We all feel like we are getting sucked in to autopilot mode when we are in so much of a rush we cant enjoy the things we do. This is not an exaggeration. I know the feeling. Ive been there. Ive been in autopilot mode for a long time. As a result I feel like I have forgotten the things I used to enjoy doing. This is very common.
The main reason why I have been on autopilot this long is because I don’t have a habit of jumping on the autopilot, because I don’t have a habit of doing what I used to do. People are like, “Okay, wait, I’m a human…” They think I’m a big deal that I’m going to get killed.
This is a common fear. Some people think that if you kill yourself, you will be “killed” by the afterlife. But that’s not what a person on autopilot feels. A person on autopilot feels like they have the power to do anything they want. That’s why it’s a lot easier to kill yourself than to kill yourself and then kill yourself again.
I guess death is easier than you think. On deathpath, you are a single person with no social life. You are the only person there. You have nothing to do, and you are not allowed to change anything. You have to wait for the end to happen before you can do anything about it. Most people on autopilot feel that they dont have the power to do anything about it but continue to live their lives in the way they always have.
